Steep streets, narrow access
Sausalito's city limits include steep wooded hillside as well as shoreline flats, per Wikipedia. Many hillside homes sit above streets with little room to stage a job. Before we quote, we want to know where the truck can stop, where debris goes and how material gets to the roof.

Alameda customers have reported clean worksites and daily cleanup, and the same expectation applies on a slope. Ask the estimate to name the debris plan and how landscaping below is protected.
Salt air and exposed metal
Richardson Bay brings moisture and salt. Flashing, vents and nail heads corrode, and rust stains on shingles or around a chimney are a clue. The fix is often small, a resealed or replaced flashing, rather than a new roof. On three Alameda skylights the company resealed flashing instead of replacing them.

- Roof Repair
Salt air corrodes exposed nails and flashing, so repair visits check metal first. Rust staining at a chimney or vent is the clue, and a resealed or replaced flashing is often the whole fix.
- Roof Replacement
A hillside tear-off needs a plan for debris on a street with little room. The estimate names the debris route, the dumpster position and how the landscaping below is protected.
- Storm Damage Roofing
Wind and rain off the bay hit exposed hillside slopes, and we document damage with photos. Sausalito's rain, about 23 inches a year, falls mostly November through March, which is when claims start.
- Emergency Roof Repair
The shorter drive helps, but urgent calls remain subject to crew availability that day. Describe where water is entering and how steep the approach is, so we can plan the tarp and the ladder.
- Gutters
Gutters and downspouts corrode in the same salt air as flashing. A rusting run can be replaced during a reroof, when the roof edge is already open and the fascia is exposed for inspection.
- Flat Roofing
Low-slope sections near Bridgeway drain differently from the pitched hillside roofs. Drains, edge metal and seams get checked first, and each section is priced on its own line.
- Roof Inspection
Steep roofs are hard to read from the street. A photographed inspection, with aerial photos where the slope is too steep to walk, shows the flashing, fasteners and decking condition without guessing.
Bridgeway and the waterfront
Some buildings near Bridgeway and the waterfront have flat or low-slope sections. If yours does, say so when you call so we plan the inspection and drainage details. In Alameda a customer reported a townhouse flat roof and bulkhead replacement, which shows the kind of work involved.
Marinship fill, the waterfront and the hills above
Parts of Sausalito's shoreline were built from dredged bay material placed during the wartime Marinship shipyard years, per Wikipedia, and the city's listed elevation is just 9.8 feet. Salt and wet wind reach low waterfront roofs and metal directly. Hillside homes catch the same weather from above and sit at the end of narrow streets. Both exposures show up on the inspection, and the estimate notes which one your roof faces.
Drive, permits and the first visit
The drive is about 36 minutes and crosses a bridge, so allow for traffic. The City of Sausalito handles permits, and the estimate states who pulls one; confirm it with the city. Wayne or Pedro often does the first inspection.
